In 2014, in association with Professor Will Hughes of the University of Reading, we invested in research to find out what contributed to winning work in a built environment setting. We wanted to discover successful work winning behaviours and then use that insight to help our clients.
The findings uncovered some startling results about how winning and losing bidding behaviours and their impact on overall bid costs and win rates.
The winning behaviours and approaches that were highlighted in the research
have now been mapped within the myConsole system.
Taking the average % of bid cost (and allowing for the fact that there are typically five bidders per tender), then applying it across the £110bn industry, indicates that between £2.5 to £3 billion is spent on bidding every year.
The research proves that adopting and implementing winning behaviours in a collaborative and open working environment is paramount to improving win rates.
